Predominantly I utilise mark making along with the layering process of printmaking as well as strong line & pattern. I use mediums such as linocuts & etching to interpret a landscape that float with strange encounters.
I use collage as it is a process that holds a myriad of possibilities in my ongoing exploration of identity as well as a way to create print works. I produce one-off pieces and limited editions. |

Born Rabaul Papua New Guinea & now resides in Brisbane Australia.
Place: Manus Island as well as Guam near the Philippine Sea.
My prints are inspired by country of origin (Papua New Guinea) with representations of Masalai and performance of Sing Sings (cultural dance and beliefs) that frame the intersections of race and identity. This hybridity is a mirror of my own hybrid mix race as embodied experience.
For me the interest is in the coherence of new forms or hybrids examining consciousness, myths & the spaces between. I am interested in investigating the peripheries between dream, fantasy and memory and how this interacts with our conscious experience and the inherent conflict between illusion and reality, ethereality and permanence.
My aim is to work spontaneously with memories that appear, or with collected items or within mediums themselves to let the process of adding and subtracting occur until the work is complete.
While I am doing this, I recognize the autonomy or spontaneousness of the artwork as it appears and emerges by itself and is formed with these threads of dual worlds that becomes fixed on a matrix or collaged on paper and reassembled once more.
