Contemporary Impressions March 2018
This series of prints were exhibited at Brunswick Street Gallery in Melbourne. I'm glad I got to show them again after the initial appearance at my solo show in 2017. The creatures are from an ongoing series I'm creating. They are about Masalai which is a term given to spirits in Papua New Guinea (my cultural heritage). Masalai are mostly feared as they are said to trick humans and a lot of cultural stories indicate this. Anthropomorphic, two headed, beastly and totally wonderful for the imagination! They stem from animist beliefs that pervade today in PNG and other places. The figures were made from collages in my show Flash Alternative Enigma's about Bilas or dressing up & transformation..
